The craftsman made a vertical wind generator from the G700.04.01 tractor generator with his own hands to charge his batteries by supplying it with a single-bladed propeller.

The tractor generator is a high-speed unit, it is given a charge for the battery at more than 1000 rpm, so it is not suitable without conversion to a windmill. In order for the generator to be able to charge the battery at low speeds, it had to be modified.
The master rewound the stator - 80 turns for each coil, using 0.8 mm wire. The author rewound the excitation coil of the electromagnet and increased it by 250 turns using the same wire. He additionally used 200 meters of wire to rewind the stator and wind the coil.
Then the craftsman welded a mount for the generator, using a corrugated pipe, made protection from strong winds. It is made in the form of a folding shank, which is put on the kingpin.
Choosing a screw, the author decided first of all to create a design with two blades, the screw diameter is 1360 mm. For the blades, an aluminum pipe with a cross section of 110 mm was used, which were rolled out. The length of each of them is 630 mm.
The master installed the wind generator on a 5-meter mast. He dropped the slip ring idea and ran the generator wire inside the mast tube.
Stretch cables were used to fix the mast at a height of 4 m.
The wind generator starts charging the battery if the wind speed reaches 3.5 m/s.
4 m/s - 300 rpm.
7 m / s - 900 rpm, the generator provides about 150 watts.
15 m / s - the rotation speed of the screw reaches 1500 rpm, the wind generator produces about 250 watts. These parameters are sufficient to charge the car battery.
To improve his installation, the author increases the speed - he converts a two-bladed propeller into a propeller with a single blade.
The single-bladed propeller has the advantage of high wind energy utilization. For the same wind speed, a single-bladed propeller rotates twice as fast as a three-bladed propeller.
However, for the manufacture of a single-blade propeller, it is necessary to carry out a difficult operation - its balancing. Otherwise, due to strong vibrations, the generator bearing will collapse, fail prematurely.
The place of fixation of such a screw is a tube on which a counterweight is provided. The work of the design is based on the principle of the rocker arm.
The author welded the mount for the blade beam onto the generator pulley, drilled a hole in the beam for the M6 stud. In the mount, he inserted two limiters in the form of studs so that the screw did not touch the mast.
The author tested the design and got decent results. If the propeller is properly balanced, the generator shaft rotates much faster. As a result, the generator produces more electricity, even if the wind is weak.
This wind generator is made on the basis of the G-700 generator from a tractor. The alternator propeller has a two-blade design, which in the kit allows you to develop high speeds even in light winds. The average power that the generator produces is 150 watts, it is already achieved with a wind of 6 m / s. Let us consider in more detail the design of the windmill and its main components.
The main part of the windmill is a generator, which in this case was converted from a standard G-700 tractor generator. The G-700 tractor generator has the following characteristics: rated voltage is 14 V, rated current is 50 A, the generator weighs 5.4 kg without a pulley, and also has a resource of 10,000 hours.
The only snag to use this generator without alterations was too high operating speed from 5000 to 6000 rpm. Therefore, for starters, the author took up the modernization of the generator.
The generator stator was completely rewound with a wire 0.8 mm thick with 80 turns. This was done in order to raise the voltage at the revs. So the excitation coil of electromagnets has undergone processing. 250 turns were wound on the coil with the same wire that was used for the stator. Taking into account the complete rewinding of the stator and winding the coil, the author spent about 200 meters of wire for such an upgrade.
Then the author proceeded to create a mount for this generator. The fastening structure was made of a shaped pipe in such a way that the drive passed inside and twisted vertically. Also, the design of the windmill provided protection from strong winds. In order to reduce the load, protection was organized by means of "folding the tail", for this a kingpin was welded, on which the tail of the wind generator will subsequently be put on.
Since the generator still requires sufficiently high revolutions for high-quality work, the design of the propeller was chosen as two-bladed. The screw itself turned out to be about 136 cm in diameter, and a duralumin pipe with a diameter of 110 mm became the material for its creation. Both propeller blades were cut out of this pipe. The length of each blade turned out to be 63 cm. In order to reduce the twist and make the blades flatter, the author rolled them out. As a result, it turned out as if the blades were made of a pipe with a diameter of 400 mm.

Due to the fact that the used generator has no sticking, the screw starts even from the lightest wind and develops high speeds. The length of the wind generator mast is 5 meters. The height is also added by the pipe of the generator itself.
Fastening takes place in three places through M10 bolts. To keep the mast of the wind turbine in a vertical position, it was fixed with braces. the wire from the wind generator goes inside the pipe, so it is reliably protected from external conditions. In the design, the author did not use slip rings.
Charging the battery begins already with a wind of 3.5 m / s, and at a speed of 4 m / s, the wind generator propeller accelerates to 300 rpm, at 7 m / s the speed reaches 800-900, when the wind is 15 m / s, then the propeller revs up to 1500 rpm.
The maximum power of the generator, which was recorded by the author, was 250 watts. With a standard wind of 6 m / s, the wind generator produces 150 watts of energy every hour. This power is enough to charge a car battery.

But in this form, the generator was not quite suitable as a generator for a windmill, since it was designed for high speeds, and it was modernized.
